Leveraging on the Group’s know-how and solutions, ENGIE aims at becoming a benchmark player in China’s energy transition, developing decarbonated, decentralized and digitalized solutions in the areas of Renewables Energy, Green Gas, Green Mobility and District Cooling & Heating Networks, as well as facilitating ENGIE and Chinese companies to jointly develop projects in third-party markets.

ENGIE in China is striving to contribute to the Energy Evolution in China, to fight against the air pollution, and also to help cities to overcome their sustainability challenges.

ENGIE’s energy transition focuses on the decentralization of energy production and solutions, the application of digital technology in the energy sector and the expansion of low carbon energy (gas and renewables). This strategy and this vision impact positively ENGIE’s activities in China, because it is fully in line with the vision of Chinese leaders on future energy structure: to build a clean, low carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.

ENGIE presents its strategy in China market around the following aspects:

  • Renewable Power, such as solar PV, concentrated solar power (CSP), wind power, small hydro, etc.
  • Natural Gas and “New Gases”, such as biogas and hydrogen related activities.
  • Solutions for Territories & Industry: such as CCHP/CHP, district heating & cooling, EV charging, smart building services, energy efficiency services etc.

ENGIE CEO with MediaJuly 12, 2017, ENGIE Group CEO Isabelle Kocher announced during a media interview in Beijing: “China, as the largest renewable energy market, has great ambition. China has made quick progress in energy transformation, which fits well with ENGIE’s vision and technical advantages. ENGIE is committed to providing sustainable and efficient energy solutions to business, cities & territories in China. ENGIE in China will then focus its business on four areas: renewable energy power generation, green mobility, district heating & cooling as well as green gases such as biogas with an investment of 1 billion Euros in the Chinese market.”
